Don't you hate it when this happens?! Especially after having paid for the deluxe car wash on Saturday. It didn't rain either, or I could have gone back for their 48 hour guarantee. No such luck! We have this little thing going on around here called road construction. In an effort to cut down on the amount of dust you get in your face while following the car in front of you...they have made sure to give the road a good watering. I mean water!!!! Don't they know we're in the middle of a draught? They've also done a tremendous job of smoothing this dirt road. Thank heavens for good shock absorbers. You actually get the feeling you're off roading somewhere in the backwoods of Tennessee...oh yeah...that's where it is. I mean, I've seen men proudly driving their four wheel drive trucks covered in mudd. It's a statement! It's a signature! It shows the world what a macho manly driver you are. You just don't get the same reaction when you're a woman driving an Altima.
For those of you who know my husband, he's all about clean cars. I know this about him so, of course, I told him about my exhilarating drive to pick up a friend who was going with me the other night so he wouldn't be surprised when he saw it the next morning. He wasn't surprised, he just didn't expect it to be THAT dirty. His first impulse, I'm sure, was to wash it off then and there, which he probably would have done if he had seen it the night before. Unfortunately, it was early in the morning and he didn't have time. The truth is, Mr. Clean doesn't have very much time these days, so I've been instructed to take it to the carwash ASAP. I do appreciate his anal retentiveness when it comes to a clean car...there's just a little bitty part of me that wants to go to his office and switch cars so that he has to drive this one home. I'm even tempted to write "wash me" in the dirt.

Hah hah... this was a FUNNY post! It reminded me of George (my husband) who is almost fanatic about clean cars. He's driving experience seems to be "less than optimal" if our car is dirty. The dirtyness, doesn't bother me as much, until it gets so bad, that my clothes or hands get brown, when I'm opening the door. :) And we are convinced that we have a very bad 'carma' what comes to washing cars. Almost 90% of the time, it rains during the next few days, when ever we wash our car. And then it was like we never even washed it!
Oh, you HAVE to switch cars with him! How funny would that be?
He must be related to my dad or something...my dad is SOOOO OCD about the washing of the cars. I hadn't even considered that trait being genetic until now...
That's too funny. Greg is the same way about clean cars. Usually he goes to get the car washed and then spends at least an hour in the garage washing the windows until they have not one streak on them.
You should definitely switch cars with him and then post about his reaction. haha!
I sure miss your quick wit at the office. Weston hates dirty cars too! He however doesn't have the time to get it done and it isn't that high on my priority list so he suffers. Poor kid! Take care.
I think dad taught me to be super anal about having the INSIDE of the car clean, but I'm not as bad as he is about the OUTSIDE. I think you should switch cars with him, too. Too funny. After driving through dirty rain to St. George for the marathon, our car was SUPER dirty. Uncle Bill actually commented on it, so Christie's right...it must be genetic!
It's a lease car! You don't need to wash it, right? That's what I tell myself about the Versa. Just kidding. I actually take it through the drive-through car wash at least once every two weeks. Since I know dad cares so much, I don't feel bad about charging it to him...
Diane your blog has to be the funniest. I know Bob and he would really curl up die if he saw my car right now. I took it out to get it washed 2 wks ago and it immediately rained while we out to Patti's and it was a dirty rain so there went the CAR WASH. It's been raining today so I AM NOT GOING TO WASH THE CAR YET. I do love a clean car, clean house, clean yard but oh DARN!!!!
